Ireland can be a small place when you are single again in your fifties. In a town where everyone knows your business, the pub or the parish hall is not always where you want to start. Some people here have come home after years abroad, others have lived in the same county all their lives and simply fancy a fresh face across the table.
Online, you can take your time. Everyone on this site is over 50, and nobody will be reporting back to your neighbours.
Join free, add a photo and a few lines about yourself. You will see people from your own county first, and you can have a look further afield too, with a page for every county, whether you are in Kerry or Donegal.
Having a browse is free. When you would like to start talking to someone, a premium membership lets you send messages. Sign up free.
An Garda Siochana warns that fake profiles often use stolen photos and describe a job that makes video calls or travel awkward. Be wary of anyone who asks lots of questions about you but tells you very little about themselves, and of small requests for money that grow, sometimes into an investment pitch involving crypto.
Never send money or share your bank details, and never install an app a match asks you to download. If something does not add up, report the profile, keep your messages, and contact your bank and any Garda station. Meet for the first time somewhere busy, like a hotel lobby or a cafe on the main street.
Joining is free, and so is browsing profiles. You only pay if you decide to go premium so you can message people.
People from your own county are shown first. If it is quiet locally, a neighbouring county is often less than an hour away, and plenty of members are glad of the drive.
Your email and phone number are never shown, and you decide how much to say about where you live. Many members use a first name or a nickname until they are ready to share more.
This site covers the Republic of Ireland. Members in Northern Ireland use our UK site.
Write the way you would talk. A line about your favourite walk, the match you never miss or the book on your bedside table tells people far more than a list of adjectives.
It is not compulsory, but a clear, recent photo makes people much more likely to reply. Daylight, a smile and just you in the picture is all it takes.
